Hickory Ridge Equestrian Center is located in Lake Mills, Wisconsin on 310 rolling hills and pastoral acres offering boarding, lessons and training facility to meet all your needs. We specialize in Hunter/Jumper and Collegiate riding and offer two hunt rings for jumping, an outdoor arena with lights, a small indoor arena, a 60-foot round pen with rubber footing and a 10-acre cross-country course. We also have miles of groomed trails for pleasure riding.
Darla Carr is the Owner and Trainer at Hickory Ridge Equestrian Center. She taught 4-H and Open show competitors for 10 years in central California before moving to Wisconsin and opening the current farm in 1998.
Darla coaches the Hickory Ridge Show Team that competes at both local A and B shows throughout Wisconsin and Illinois. She also coaches numerous collegiate and interscholastic teams that offer riding opportunities for horseless and horse-owning competitors:
WIHA (Wisconsin Interscholastic Horsemanship Association) – 6-12th grades. Darla coaches the Lake Mills Area Eq. Team which consists of Lake Mills Public schools and Lakeside Lutheran and Saint Paul’s Lutheran schools in Lake Mills.
IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) – Hunt Seat Equitation. Runs the same as the intercollegiate program but for 6th-12th grades, and is national with Regional, Zone and National shows. No need to own a horse to compete and the venues are very nice.
IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) – Darla is the Coach for the Ripon College IHSA Hunt Team
